AOC mocked after calling Elon Musk ‘one of the most unintelligent billionaires I have ever met’
Here’s a rich one.
Lefty New York City Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed Monday that Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, is stupid during a fiery screed that drew mockery from her critics.
“This dude is probably one of the most unintelligent billionaires I have ever met or seen or witnessed,” Ocasio-Cortez, 35, said during an Instagram Live video session.
“This dude is not smart, and the danger in the lack of intelligence and the lack of expertise that Elon has, I mean, this guy is one of the most morally vacant but also just least knowledgeable about these systems that we know of,” she added, referring to his efforts to reform government spending — which she and her Dem cronies vehemently oppose.
The South African-born Musk, 53, moved to the US from Canada in the 1990s and quickly formed the multimillion-dollar company Zip2 before starting another firm that later became PayPal.
Using funds from those companies, he built SpaceX from scratch before taking over and dramatically scaling up Telsa, which Musk claims is the first new American start-up to have produced sustainable mass production in the 21st century.
SpaceX is currently developing the most advanced super heavy lift rocket ever created, Starship, which is designed to be reusable.
Last year, Starship’s first stage was successfully caught by the Mechazilla arms on Starbase in a major technological breakthrough.
Many employees at his companies have described how Musk would bounce around to different teams at his firms and work with them to tackle some of their most pressing engineering problems.
“He really is a genius when it comes to material properties, when it comes to engineering,” biographer Walter Isaacson said of Musk.
Isaacson caveated that Musk, who claims to suffer from Asperger’s syndrome, is “not a genius” on “human emotions.”
Ocasio-Cortez, who has had public flaps with Musk in the past, panned his Department of Government Efficiency team for its scrutiny of the Treasury Department.
Last week, DOGE obtained access to the federal payment system to aid in its efforts to thoroughly comb government spending, a move that has rankled Democrats.
“They don’t do their homework, clearly,” Ocasio-Cortez griped of Republicans. “Like, they’re putting 19-year-olds in at the Treasury.”
Democrats have been incensed by Musk’s and the Trump administration’s efforts to scrap the US Agency for International Development and to undertake dramatic transformations of government agencies without congressional approval.
Ocasio-Cortez, who used to own a Tesla, also attempted to poke at Musk’s and President Trump’s egos and expose daylight between them, a tact other Dems have tried before.
“What Donald Trump has done is that he has completely given up his power and handed a lot of it over to Elon Musk,” the Queens and Bronx Democrat said. “Elon Musk has appointed some teenagers and some people in their early 20s into essentially trying to raid government systems.”
She spent roughly 90 minutes ranting about the situation during her Instagram session with her 8.5 million followers.
Critics quickly lampooned her efforts to dunk on Musk’s intellect.
“AOC calling Elon Musk ‘unintelligent’ might actually be the dumbest thing she has ever said, which is really saying something,” conservative pundit Charlie Kirk jeered.
Defiant L’s wrote on X, “Who’s gonna tell her?”
GOP operative Kevin Smith said, “He’s literally going to Mars… She has a [hard] time getting to Queens.”
New York City officials have ripped her in the past for being out of touch with the borough on such issues as crime.
Commentator Stephen Miller said, “She doesn’t actually do anything but instagram videos.
“She hates her job so much. She has to review committee assignments and check emails all day and all she wants to do is make instagram videos.”
In 2023, Musk joked that the progressive darling would never date him and chided that she’s “not that smart.”
