Illinois teacher Christina Formella arrives glammed-up to court with stone-faced husband as she faces charges of molesting student, 15
WHEATON, Illinois — Teacher Christina Formella has arrived with her husband at court, where she faces charges of molesting her 15-year-old student.
Appearing glammed up with a full face of makeup, the 30-year-old said nothing as she entered the DuPage County Courthouse here.
She was flanked by her lawyer and her college sweetheart husband, whom she allegedly kept in the dark about her twisted affair, according to court docs.
Neither of them answered questions outside of court ahead of the hearing.
Formella pleaded not guilty during the short hearing on Monday morning.
Her spouse, Michael, sat emotionless in court as the prosecution went over the charges against his wife, and set out how — if convicted — she would have to sign on to the sex offender registry.
Her father-in-law, Randy Formella, was also in court to support her.
The elder Formella — president of E. Formella and Sons, a suburban Chicago-based Italian food manufacturing business — refused to say why he supports his daughter-in-law when asked by The Post.
Formella and her husband left the court via the back door after her brief appearance. The next court date is scheduled for Friday to discuss a motion on media coverage.
Formella is accused of carrying on a month-long affair with the teenage student, which ended with them having sex in a classroom, according to prosecutors.
Her spouse told cops he was totally blindsided when news of his wife’s alleged affair came to light, according to court documents.
Christina Formella, a former college soccer player, tied the knot with Michael, a former college baseball player, last summer, around six months after the alleged abuse, according to the docs.
The pair met at Concordia University Chicago, where they started dating, and photos from their wedding show the pair dancing and kissing while loved ones looked on and cheered.
“Throughout her interview, [Formella] tried to paint [the accuser] as her ‘stalker’ and claimed that her husband was aware,” the documents read.
“Oddly enough, her husband told detectives that he knows nothing about [accuser] beyond his status as a soccer player,” investigators wrote.
Formella has denied all charges and claimed to cops that she’s being targeted because she’s “good looking.
“She also appeared to blame the teenager for “ruining” her marriage in torrid diary entries found on her phone, according to the court documents.
“I went back and screen shotted every, single, time that I said we should break up until after the wedding and after you graduated,” she allegedly wrote.
