The wonder supplement you’ve never heard of prevents cancer, makes your heart healthier and slows skin aging
Every biohacker has a supplement — or 91 of them — to rave about these days, but one doctor swears there’s a single wonder pill that can do everything from slow brain decline to prevent cancer to make your skin look younger and healthier.
And you’ve probably never heard of it.
But Dr. Cory Goldberg, a plastic surgeon based in Toronto, has been taking it for 15 years and insists it’s the most underrated but effective supplement out there to tackle the root cause of most of our health problems.
“I feel sometimes like I’m taking crazy pills because the stuff [sounds] too good to be true, but it’s very real, and the mechanism behind it is legit,” he told The Post.
The supplement is GliSODin, an antioxidant formula made from cantaloupe melon rich in SOD and something called gliadin, a component of wheat gluten.
Goldberg, a plastic surgeon who’s on GliSODin’s board of directors but doesn’t get paid by the brand, said he first started giving it to patients a decade and a half ago when a sales rep touted it for skin benefits.
But he was amazed to see an “immediate difference” in his patients’ recovery after plastic surgery, including less swelling and bruising.
Digging into studies — and performing a couple of his own — he came to find that it had benefits for other areas of the body too.
“What it’s doing is it’s reducing oxidative stress, which is a root cause of cancer, heart disease, cognitive decline, Alzheimer’s,” he explained.
“There’s very little consideration about root causes. And to some extent, there’s not a lot of treatments for root causes either,” he said.
“I truly believe it is a unique entity. I’m not aware that there’s anything else worldwide that has this ability. And I’ve looked.”

Goldberg says that with more than 40 trials showing benefits for “every organ system, from the eyes to the kidneys to the lungs to the skin,” there’s nothing quite like it out there.
“I truly believe it is a unique entity. I’m not aware that there’s anything else worldwide that has this ability. And I’ve looked,” he said.
How does it work?
Though the supplement is new, the enzyme in it — SOD — has been around for millions of years. Natural sources include cabbage, Brussels sprouts and broccoli.
But Goldberg says foods don’t have a lot of it — and when you eat it, it’s digested and not being absorbed in a way for it to work against oxidative stress.
GliSODin encapsulates the SOD with gliadin, which is “really tough and avoids digestion,” so it ends up being absorbed by the intestines to move elsewhere in your body.
He says this has tons of benefits, but these are his top three.
Improving skin
Reducing oxidative stress lessens skin inflammation, meaning less hyperpigmentation (brown spots) and hypopigmentation (white spots).
“So you’re maintaining your hair better, you’re maintaining the thickness of your skin. You get fewer wrinkles, so you look better. And also you have less of these senescent cells,” Goldberg said.
“There is no drug on the planet — there is no prescription medication — that has ever been shown to reverse cardiovascular disease.”

Senescent cells — often referred to as “zombie cells” — don’t divide like healthy cells but don’t die off, either. Instead, they release chemicals, contaminating everything around them and driving signs of aging.
“And since I also happen to believe that skin is a driver of aging, I think that by reducing the inflammation and oxidative stress of your skin, you’re also reducing the effect it has on the rest of you,” he added.
Protecting the heart
The doc says it also has a “huge, huge benefit” in protecting against heart disease.
In one two-year study, French researchers gave GliSODin to patients with cardiovascular risk.
“It actually showed that the thickness in the artery walls decreased over the two years compared to the control groups, which thickened,” Goldberg said.
“Just to put this into perspective, there is no drug on the planet — there is no prescription medication — that has ever been shown to reverse cardiovascular disease,” he went on.
Preventing cancer
Studies have found that GliSODin may also have benefits for cancer treatment.
“It has actually been shown to reduce the oxidative stress within tumors and therefore reduce how often they metastasize,” he said.
That doesn’t mean it’s curing cancer — but he said it is making it easier for your own immune system to fight against tumors.
“It hasn’t yet been shown that it reduces the formation, but has been shown that it reduces the severity and the metastasis rate.”
He pointed to one study in which rats were exposed to something that causes colon cancer — but the rats on GliSODin had less cancer formation and advancement. It also helped eliminate prostate cancer cells in another study.
Secret sauce
So with all this research, why aren’t longevity experts all over this stuff? Goldberg’s certainly singing its praises.
“I have spent the past 10 years of my life screaming about this to anyone who will listen,” he said. “It’s a hard sell … because it’s hard to believe.
“I’m not claiming this is a panacea,” he added, but “I really think this has a major benefit on health span and potentially lifespan.”
