FDNY brass are putting a gag on its EMS ambulance corps, telling them what is in good taste when displaying 9/11 memorial stickers on their emergency vehicles.
All EMS workers this week were ordered to remove all “distasteful” 9/11 stickers from FDNY ambulances – especially ones referring to “kicking Osama’s ass.”
The order – a verbal directive – came down from Chief Robert McCracken and sent to all battalion supervisors across the city.
Still allowed on ambulances are 9/11 statements memorializing fallen comrades or direct reminders, like the one that reads, “All gave some, some gave all,” or “9/11/01, We will never forget.”
“At a meeting, it was discussed that some ambulances had inappropriate stickers,” said Bob Unger, spokesman for the Uniformed EMTs and Paramedics Union.
“The union agrees these memorial stickers should be appropriate and respectful to our fallen heroes.”
