Theater lovers can now give their regards to Broadway – and get up close and personal with costumes and greasepaint – thanks to a bus tour that kicked off yesterday.
If you’ve got stars in your eyes and a song in your heart, try out a Broadway blitz with the Showbiz Insiders Tour, the latest specialty offering from the Gray Line and Coach USA tour-bus companies.
Cristyne Nicholas, president of NYC & Company and the city’s tourism chief, said the plan had been in the works for about a year.
“There’s no business like show business,” crowed Nicholas. “And this creates another fabulous reason to come to New York City.”
Those who hop aboard a Coach USA double-decker bus for the tour will be able to soak up the backstage atmosphere at the New Amsterdam Theater, home of “The Lion King,” do the NBC TV Studio Tour and meet a Rockette backstage.
After lunch at Planet Hollywood, the eight-hour tour concludes with a performance by a Great White Way entertainer at a Midtown cabaret-like theater.
