JET NOTES
It was one of the objectives Herman Edwards set for the Jets as soon as he took over as head coach: Turn Giants Stadium into a home-field advantage.
The Jets enter Sunday’s game against the Patriots, their home finale, with a 6-1 record at Giants Stadium, having already clinched their best home record under Edwards.
The Jets have gone 3-5, 5-3 and 3-5 at home in Edwards’ first three seasons.
“We have a pretty good record at home now – 6-1 is the best record that we’ve had since I’ve been here obviously,” Edwards said. “That was something we kind of talked about, that we wanted to establish a home-field advantage. I think we’ve done that this year. Our crowd gets involved in it when we can get something going.”

The only player on the Jets’ injury report is DE John Abraham (knee), who “at this point is out,” Edwards said.
Edwards said there’s a hope that, in the best-case scenario, Abraham might be back for the Jan. 2 regular-season finale in St. Louis in a limited role and then be available for the playoffs, should the Jets get there.
“He’s just trying to heal,” Edwards said. “He’s coming back, slowly but surely, and he’s getting better. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for that, that he comes back.”
Edwards also said that LB Victor Hobson, who’s missed the last few weeks with a sprained ankle, is “progressing” and might play Sunday.

Edwards said WR Justin McCareins will continue to return punts because Santana Moss’ hamstring still isn’t completely healed.
The Jets, in their 13-7 loss in New England, are the only team to hold the Patriots under 20 points this season.

Defensive coordinator Donnie Henderson marveled at Patriots’ offensive coordinator Charlie Weis’ ability to handle both his New England responsibilities and his new job as Notre Dame head coach.
“I take my hat off to him what he’s about to do,” Henderson said. “The toughest thing do to is try to do two jobs. He’s getting the Patriots ready and trying to revitalize a prominent national program college program.”
