A “Sopranos” star on “Law & Order”?
There’s nothing unusual about that. The latest “Sopranos” player to join “L&O,” Annabella Sciorra of “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” is just one of many “Sopranos” family members who have turned up on the NBC criminal-justice franchise over the years.
Since the shows are filmed here in New York, just about every New York-based actor worth his or her salt has
appeared at least once on he “L&Os.”
That includes the stars of “The Sopranos,” most of whom made guest appearances before the HBO mob series premiered in 1999.
Sciorra, seen here in an exclusive photo filming a new episode of “L&O: CI” with co-star Chris Noth, has just recently joined the show, which has begun filming new episodes for next fall.
And in the just-concluded TV season, Michael Imperioli of “The Sopranos” joined the original “Law & Order” for a flight of four episodes.
Which other “Sopranos” stars have been seen on “L&O”? Before “The Sopranos” came along, Vincent Pastore (Big Pussy) appeared in four episodes, as four different characters.
Dominic Chianese (Uncle Junior) was seen in three episodes in 1991, 1995 and 1997.
Edie Falco (Carmela), John Ventimiglia (Artie Bucco), Katherine Narducci (Charmaine Bucco) and the late Nancy Marchand (Livia Soprano) all made pre- “Sopranos” appearances on the original “L&O,” while Robert Iler (Anthony Jr.) guest-starred on “L&O: Special Victims Unit” and Lorraine Bracco (Dr. Melfi) was seen on the now-canceled “L&O: Trial By Jury” earlier this year.
Of the principal cast members on “The Sopranos,” only James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano) and Tony Sirico (Paulie Walnuts) have never appeared on “L&O.”
Sciorra, who played Tony Soprano’s mentally unstable girlfriend Gloria Trillo on “The Sopranos,” is playing a new investigator on “Criminal Intent.”
