A feisty grandmother tried to fight off a carjacker even after he threw her to the sidewalk in Queens yesterday – and says no one answered her screams for help as the punk ripped the keys from her hand and drove off.
Marilyn Toppin, 64, is upset that not one of those who saw what happened after she got out of her parked 2000 Toyota Avalon in Jamaica Hills – and heard her cries – stopped to lend a hand.
“I would say to the people who didn’t help me, they have no love in their soul for New York City,” she said.
Toppin, who is head deaconess at her church, bought the car as a retirement gift to herself. The grandmother of 10 said she uses the vehicle for missionary work, like taking the elderly shopping.
She parked her green Toyota on 175th Street near Hillside Avenue after 9 a.m. and got out when the thug, who is still on the loose, approached her.
