Opera star Jerry Hadley was a tipsy tenor when he tried to get behind the wheel of a car after he’d been drinking, police said yesterday.
Hadley, 54, of upstate Rhinebeck, was busted by cops while sitting inside his parked Ford Taurus on W. 81st Street and Riverside Drive at about 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday night, cops said.
The multiple Grammy winner, who’s performed in numerous venues around the world including the Metropolitan Opera, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
Hadley never pulled out of the parking space, but it wasn’t immediately clear if he had started the ignition.
The Illinois native, is known for his singing parts in traditional operas like “Magic Flute” and but also has performed in Broadway-style productions such as “Showboat.”
He also performed in “Liverpool Oratorio” by Beatle Paul McCartney, and has recorded several albums.
