A Long Island woman was fighting for her life last night after she was struck by lightning while wading on a beach with her family, Suffolk County cops said.
Romona Garcia-Fernandez, 29, of Coram, was in the water at Shoreham Town Beach when the bolt hit her at about 6:15 p.m. yesterday
Horrified relatives alerted authorities, who found her unconscious and without a pulse when they arrived.
Paramedics performed CPR and were able to revive her. She was airlifted to University Medical Center in Stony Brook, and was listed in critical condition.
About an hour earlier, six people, including four children, suffered minor injuries when lightning struck a tree and electrified a nearby fence at Smith Street Park in Uniondale, Nassau County ire officials said.
