A Brooklyn jury yesterday convicted an NYPD sergeant of coldly blowing away his estranged girlfriend and crippling his own best friend in 2001.
Martin Peters, 43, hung his head as the guilty verdicts on charges of murder, assault and witness intimidation were read.
He faces up to 54 years to life in prison when he is sentenced next month.
Peters said he was at the home of girlfriend Juliet Alexander, 29, for a few minutes on Jan. 16, 2001.
The key prosecution witness, Nigel Callender, said he saw his former buddy gun down Alexander before inexplicably turning the gun on him.
Callender refused to finger Peters for more than four years. He later said Peters threatened to kill his family if he talked.
Callender finally changed his mind only when he was charged with immigration fraud. Prosecutors cut him a deal in return for his help with the Peters case.
