Katie Holmes, who demonstrated she couldn’t convincingly play a DA in “Batman Begins,” has begged off the sequel to the latter, citing domestic responsibilities. She will be replaced by another new mom, Maggie Gyllenhaal, who is apparently plotting to park the baby with her boyfriend, Peter Sarsgaard.
Meanwhile, serial mom Angelina Jolie will take the lead in Clint Eastwood’s next picture, in which she is cast as a mother whose abducted child is returned. But she’s not sure it’s hers. The film will be produced by Ron Howard, who is too busy with the “The DaVinci Code” sequel to helm it himself.
Kim Masters at Slate says it’s a done deal for Shia LaBeouf to play Harrison Ford’s son in “Indiana Jones 4.” And, as we noted yesterday, Variety says he’s in “final talks.” But Shia, cornered by Collider, claims that’s strictly a rumor. Or is he just bluffing?
