Attention: Britney, Lindsay and Paris. While people love you – and devour stories about you – they don’t think you’re in a very prestigious profession.
In fact, a Harris Poll shows actors and entertainers hover just above the bottom in a ranking of 23 occupations.
Firefighters were first, with 61 percent of those polled saying their occupation was prestigious.
Real-estate brokers were last with 5 percent.
Actors were next to last with 9 percent, while entertainers had 12 percent – surprisingly beating out accountants (11 percent) and bankers (10 percent).
“While Americans have become celebrity-obsessed, with gossip magazine and Web sites as must-reads, they do not hold these celebrities in high regard,” the poll says.
Following firefighters at the top of the list are scientists and teachers (54 percent each), doctors (52 percent), nurses (50 percent) and police officers (46 percent).
