Rob Zombie’s remake of “Halloween” looks to break the all-time record for an opening over the Labor Day Weekend. Extrapolating early Friday figures, Steve Mason at Fantasy Moguls calculates the reboot will take in a whoppping $35 million over four days, 40 percent higher than the current record holder, “Transporter 2.” Among other newcomers, “Balls of Fury” will place fourth with $12.4 million over four days, while “Death Sentence” will finish out of the money in seventh place with a meagre $6.6 million over four day, Steve predicts. If the projections hold up “Halloween” would be the best opening for the Weinsteins since “Scary Movie 4” last year. Both movies carry the Dimension label, meaning that the brothers will be sharing the proceeds with silent partner The Walt Disney Co.
