A cop who thought he was catching a mugger at the Port Authority Bus Terminal got a killer surprise, authorities said yesterday.
The busted thug turned out to be a slay suspect sought in South Carolina.
Alleged killer Trevee Gethers, 19, arrived at the 42nd Street terminal Friday with a 14-year-old pal, and the pair wasted no time in causing trouble, cops said.
The duo mugged a 55-year-old woman as she walked up a broken-down escalator, making off with her cellphone and cash, authorities said.
Then Saturday, as PA cop Andrew Caruso patrolled the depot looking for two teens matching the description of the suspects, he spotted Gethers and his friend.
The cop called the victim’s cell number and watched Gethers answer. He then arrested the pair.
It was later discovered that Gethers was being sought for the Sept. 17 fatal shooting of a 60-year-old man who worked at South Carolina State University.
