Willie Randolph is expected to have his face-to-face meeting with Mets owner Fred Wilpon, chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon and GM Omar Minaya on Monday, before the start of a three-game series at Shea Stadium with the Marlins.
Minaya has described the meeting as a way for Randolph to explain himself to the Wilpons in person for controversial comments to The Record of Hackensack last week alleging racism on the part of his critics and complaining about the team’s own TV network.
Randolph later issued a public apology for those remarks, but the Wilpons have refused to take his calls since his the controversy erupted.
Minaya has been here in Denver since Friday, when he gave Randolph a tepid vote of confidence during what became a five-game losing streak before Saturday’s 9-2 win over the Rockies.
