Three Rikers Island guards have been suspended after a suspect came within a few hundred feet of walking out of the facility without being questioned, The Post has learned.
Nikholas Dadiani, 32, was nabbed Monday outside the Anna M. Kross Center, where he was being held after allegedly stealing 10 cans of coffee from a supermarket, a city Correction Department spokesman said.
Ten minutes earlier, Dadiani had strolled past guards, out of a section where inmates are held and into an office area.
He went out the front door into a parking lot, past another guard station.
Correction spokesman Stephen Morello said Dadiani “never left custody, or the secure perimeter of . . . Rikers Island.”
But a source insisted, “If he was smart enough to hotwire a car or get on a bus, he would have escaped.”
