A Brooklyn Criminal Court judge yesterday convicted City Councilman Charles Barron of disorderly conduct for sitting in the middle of Tillary Street to protest the Sean Bell verdict.
Brooklyn DA “Charles Hynes should be ashamed of himself,” said Barron, after the bench trial prosecuted by Hynes’ office.
“He should not be allowed to come into any black church this Jan. 21 and celebrate Martin Luther King Day,” Barron said.
Judge Alex Jeong sentenced Barron to time-served — six hours he spent locked up last year after protesting the acquittal of cops who fatally shot Bell, an unarmed black man.
