It was three months ago today, as Sen. Chuck Schumer recalls, that the Scot tish government granted a “compassionate” release to convicted Lockerbie bomber Abdul Al-Megrahi on the grounds that he had terminal cancer — and less than three months to live.
Megrahi, who killed 270 people — including 189 Americans — when he bombed Pan Am Flight 103 over Scotland in 1988, was given a hero’s welcome in his native Libya.
Well, guess what?
He’s still alive.
Speculation that the fix was in started immediately after Megrahi’s release: British Prime Minister Gordon Brown reportedly had wanted to cultivate oil ties with Libyan lunatic Moammar Khadafy.
Schumer now wants the Scottish government to demand Megrahi’s return.
Fat chance that’ll ever happen.
Too bad that James “Licensed To Kill” Bond is never around when he’s needed.
