Some notes from today’s Knicks practice as the team prepares for the second half of the season:
-David Lee had travel issues coming back from Dallas, so he wasn’t at practice. Mike D’Antoni said Lee got in around 7 am, and the coach allowed his All-Star center to sleep rather than hit the court. Larry Hughes and Eddy Curry also had travel issues and weren’t at practice.
-Nate Robinson didn’t have travel problems but did have flu-like symptoms. He didn’t practice and is doubtful for tomorrow’s game in Chicago as the Knicks start the season’s second half.
-As for Thursday’s trade deadline, Donnie Walsh and D’Antoni were both relatively tight-lipped. But Walsh did say he didn’t think the Knicks were required to make a deal despite their 19-32 mark, saying, “I’m not going to make a judgment that we have to make a trade, no. For that reason.”
Walsh also sounded as if he wouldn’t be willing to move rookies Jordan Hill or Toney Douglas in any deal for a rental player (i.e., someone who’s going to be a free agent this summer). Said Walsh, “I doubt that. I’ll answer it that way.”
