As David Rooney wrote a few months ago, “The Good Wife” has replaced “Law & Order” as the go-to TV series for NY theater actors. I once argued that “30 Rock” was the “L&O” of comedy, but after last night’s episode of “The Good Wife,” I think?the drama has gained a decisive edge.
Last week’s episode?warmed us up with appearances by Cristin Milioti (currently in “The Little Foxes”) and?songbird Rebecca Luker. But last night’s ep took the cake.?The guest stars included Anika Noni Rose (last seen on Broadway as Maggie?“Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”), David Pittu (“Is He Dead?” “What’s That Smell?”), Dallas Roberts (so good in Caryl Churchill’s “A Number”), Bobby Steggert (“Ragtime,” “The Grand Manner”) and Pamela Lopez (the mom in “In the Heights”).
Coming up to do an actual arc as opposed to a one-off spot is Lily Taylor, who of late has been letting loose at the monthly downtown event “Our Hit Parade.” Check out her rendition of Cee-Lo’s latest hit in all its uncensored glory. OK, so technically she can’t really sing, but she delivers the song with such conviction that you can’t help rooting for her. (Warning: abundance of profanity.)
