NCAA: Stabbing at ‘Cuse
Syracuse University ended its annual “Orange Madness” event at the Carrier Dome 30 minutes early on Friday night after a man was stabbed.
Police said the stabbing happened in an arena concourse at around 9:30 p.m. The 25-year-year old victim was treated at an area hospital.
Minnesota football coach Jerry Kill has been hospitalized after suffering another seizure following his team’s 21-13 loss to Northwestern.
Kill coached the game and conducted his postgame interviews before returning to the locker room where he had a seizure.
The school said Kill is alert and resting comfortably at a hospital.
NFL: Bucs CB suspended
Buccaneers cornerback Aqib Talib has been suspended four games for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.
The fifth-year pro said in a statement he took an Adderall pill without a prescription “around the beginning of training camp.” He will not appeal the ban.
GOLF: Mallinger keeps lead
In San Martin, Calif., John Mallinger shot a 1-under 70 in the Frys.com Open to take a two-stroke lead into the final round.
In Conover, N.C., Fred Funk continued his bogey-free play, shooting a 6-under-par 66 to take the lead after the second round at the Champions Tour’s Greater Hickory Classic.
In Kuala Lumpur, defending champion Na-yeon Choi of South Korea posted a 3-under 68 to maintain a two-shot lead after the third round of the LPGA Malaysia.

Jacobs wins Ironman
In Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, Australia’s Pete Jacobs won the Ironman world championship , beating Germany’s Andreas Raelert by more than 4 minutes.
Jacobs, second last year, finished the 2.4-mile ocean swim in Kailua Bay, 112-mile bike ride along the Kohala Coast and 26.2-mile in 8 hours, 18 minutes, 37 seconds.
In Concord, N.C., Clint Bowyer picked up his first win in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship, winning a fuel mileage race that ended in disaster for points leader Brad Keselowski.
Keselowski dominated but ran out of gas with 58 laps remaining to blow his chance at the win. He finished 11th, and had his lead in the standings sliced in half over five-time champion Jimmie Johnson.
In Carson, Calif. Nonito Donaire stopped Toshiaki Nishioka at 1:54 of the ninth round, defending his WBO 122-pound title with a dominant performance in his 29th straight victory.
Brandon Rios also stopped Mike Alvarado in the seventh round of a sensational 140-pound bout in the co-main event.
