It is Chinese tapas or Spanish dim-sum?
Either way, this special fusion of small plates is finally getting its due. Tasca Chino, the latest upscale eatery from chef Alex Urena, will open in April at 245 Park Ave. S., the former home of Sushi Samba.
Restaurateurs Simon Oren and David Sasson, whose eateries include Barbounia and Pavilion, are the forces behind the tapas-dim sum restaurant with enough seating for 120.
In other fusion news, Susan and Victor Osorio are expanding their Inwood-based restaurant empire through Mamasushi, which puts a Latin American twist on sushi.
The duo signed a lease to take over a bodega next door to the restaurant at 237 Dyckman St. The Inwood eatery has tripled in size with 48 tables and seating for 120.
The Osorios are in talks to open more Mamasushis, including in Queens and Miami, Susan Osorio told Side Dish. Chef David Nunez worked under Hawaiian chef Roy Yamaguchi and is known for Asian-Latino fusion.
The couple also owns the Mamajuana Cafe and Restaurant chain, which has grown beyond its Inwood roots with locations on the Upper West Side, Queens and New Jersey.
Parm, fresh off its successful Upper West Side outpost opening, is coming to Brooklyn this fall.
The casual instant classic from Major Food Group’s Mario Carbone, Rich Torrisi and Jeff Zalaznick, whose other restaurants include celeb hotspots Carbone, Dirty French and Santina, is opening at the corner of Bergen Street and Flatbush Avenue.
The 4,000 square-foot space will seat 100 people, Zalaznick tells Side Dish.
