No one is more curious about Danny Kanell’s uncertain future than his 8-year-old daughter, Dylan.
Kanell, one of the victims of ESPN’s layoffs, posted the blunt message from his quizzical child Tuesday on Twitter, taken from the journal the father-daughter pair share with each?other.
“Hi dad, well now that you got fired what are we going to do? Are we going to move? I do not want to move but as long as it is FL,” Dylan wrote. “And what if we get a bigger house!! That woud [sic] be exsiding [sic]. Hopefully we move to a bigger house.”
Kanell, 43, began his post-playing career at the sports giant hosting ESPNU’s “Unite,” in which he acted as a color analyst during college football and baseball games. Following several appearances on “SVP [Scott Van Pelt] & Russillo,” he joined “The Russillo Show” full-time as a co-host, alongside Ryen Russillo. The pair co-hosted “Russillo and Kanell” beginning in September 2015 until Kanell’s termination last month.
“Poured my heart and soul into ESPN for last 8 years. Moved my wife and 3 kids to CT to go ‘all in’ 5 years ago. Bummed it ended in 3 minutes,” the former NFL quarterback tweeted on April 26.
Kanell, a former Giants quarterback, has kept an active presence on social media after?the layoffs, adopting?daughter Dylan’s optimistic attitude. Following her swim meet Saturday, the proud dad posted a lengthy note about diving into uncertain waters.
“The last thing I said was ‘Trust me. Everything will be fine and you’ll do great.’ I’m sure that moment when I walked away was really hard and scary for her,” Kanell wrote Monday on Instagram. “I’m kind of in a place like Dylan right now. It’s scary. I don’t know where I’ll work, where we will live, if we will move, etc. But just like my advice for her I need to follow God’s advice for me. I need to keep looking for him and following Him. I can hear His voice saying ‘Trust me. Everything will be fine and you’ll do great.'”
