An NYPD recruit was struck and dragged by a sanitation truck in Queens early Monday as she was walking to the police academy about a block away, officials said.
The accident happened as the 35-year-old woman was trying to cross at the corner of 28th Avenue and Ulmer Street in College Point around 6 a.m.
The truck was traveling east on 28th Avenue and struck her while making the turn south on Ulmer.
The recruit, who was on her way to the academy for the day, was dragged for a short distance before being freed.
The driver continued on and left the scene. Police said it’s possible the driver may not have been aware that he hit somebody.
She was taken by EMS to New York Presbyterian Hospital – Queens in stable condition, police said.
The truck and its driver have still not been located.
