Teen kills himself playing Russian roulette
A teen boy died in Oregon while playing Russian roulette early on New Year’s Day, police said.
Sherwood Police did not identify the boy, who was found dead in a mobile home by cops and paramedics shortly before 4 a.m. Monday, local channel KOIN reported.
“It appears that he brought a handgun with him and from witnesses account that he was playing a game known as Russian roulette,” said Sherwood Police Captain Ty Hanlon. “We believe that he showed up and initiated this all on his own.”
Russian roulette consists of loading a single bullet in a revolver, spinning the cylinder and pointing the gun at one’s head and pulling the trigger.
Police said the teen was playing the dangerous game with himself but that he was hanging out at the Marion County home with a couple of 20-year-olds.
The teen used a .357 revolver to play the game, police said, though it wasn’t clear where the gun came from or how the teen had it.
Cops said they were looking into the teen’s background to determine if he had been suicidal.
