Barack Obama will be David Letterman’s inaugural guest on his new hour-long Netflix series launching Jan. 12.
Letterman’s chat with Obama on the new show, “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction,” marks Obama’s first TV interview since leaving office (he did a BBC4 radio interview with Prince Harry last month).
Letterman’s other interview subjects in the six-episode series will include George Clooney, Malala Yousafazai, Jay-Z, Tina Fey and Howard Stern. Netflix will drop one new episode every month through June.
Letterman will interview his subjects both inside and outside a studio setting for the series, which was announced in August.
“My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” marks Letterman’s return to show biz following his run hosting “The Late Show,” which he left in May 2015 after nearly 22 years on CBS (following an 11-year run on NBC hosting “Late Night with David Letterman”). Stephen Colbert replaced Letterman behind the “Late Show” desk.
Letterman’s Netflix series is produced by RadicalMedia and Letterman’s production company, Worldwide Pants.
