Police are on the hunt for a Las Vegas hotel employee who opened fire, killing a colleague and critically injuring another, in a targeted shooting during a company picnic Sunday, authorities said.
Suspected gunman Anthony Wrobel, 42, a Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino employee, allegedly walked up to a picnic table where several hotel executives were seated in Sunset Park at about 6 p.m. and started shooting, Las Vegas police officials said.
A woman in her 50s was killed at the scene and a man, also in his 50s, was wounded and rushed to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.
One of the victims was an executive and the other was a hotel employee at the Sresort, Lt. Ray Spencer said at a press conference as he noted that investigators have deemed the shooting “workplace violence.”
“This is an isolated incident and an act of workplace violence…the individuals at the table appear to be the target of the shooter,” Spencer said.
Authorities have located the gunman’s vehicle at McCarran International Airport, but were still trying to track him down.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department shared a photo on social media of Wrobel, who is described as 5-foot-9 and weighing 197 pounds.
Wrobel is considered to be “armed and dangerous,” according to police.
