Any and all developments connecting Anthony Davis to the Lakers are sending NBA followers into a frenzy.
Even if they are completely made up.
ESPN got caught up in the hysteria Tuesday on “SportsCenter” when the network aired a fake Instagram comment from LeBron James courting Davis to Los Angeles.
“SHEESH that sweater is [fire],” the Photoshopped comment from James read. “Ur killin it bro anyway cya laker oops that was a typo I meant cya LAter #striveforgreatness.”
“SportsCenter” anchor Neil Everett introduced the fake comment by saying, “Look what we found on ‘InstaFace.'”
“LeBron James giving a thumbs up to Anthony Davis’ wardrobe, and at the same time, James basically giving the middle finger to the NBA,” Everett said.
Apparently nobody on the show saw that the alleged Instagram post was tweeted out by @sreekyshooter in response to another tweet that Photoshopped James sending $50,000 to Davis on Venmo.

The NBA fined Davis that amount Tuesday for his agent, Rich Paul, going public with a trade request while telling ESPN Davis would not sign an extension with the Pelicans. The stud center has one year after this season left on his contract and is believed to prefer the Lakers as his next team.
James said last month it would be “amazing” to get Davis on the Lakers, but has not gone as far as dropping into his Instagram comments to not so subtly get him there.
