A grown man from Florida shot himself in the leg while “playing cowboy” — with a gun he shouldn’t have even had in the first place, according to a new report.
Matthew Noffsinger Jr., 36, was being treated for a gunshot wound to his leg at a hospital early Saturday when he told Pasco County deputies that someone shot him in the woods, WFLA reported.
But keen-eyed cops noticed that Noffsinger had an entrance wound and exit wound straight down his leg that didn’t line up with his story, according to the report.
Noffsinger eventually confessed that he lied about what happened because he is a convicted felon and is not supposed to be in possession of a firearm, the station reported. He told them he was “playing cowboy” with a .22 revolver when it accidentally discharged.
Deputies determined that Noffsinger in fact had a criminal past elsewhere in the Sunshine State, in Hernando and Citrus counties.
They also found a wallet in his backpack holding four credit cards and a personal ID card that didn’t belong to him. Noffsinger confessed to cops that he found the cards and they weren’t his, the outlet reported.
He was arrested and charged with firearm possession as a felon, the station reported. He was also busted for possession of four people’s personal information.
