‘Meryl Streep of porn’ teaches students at prestigious university
Parents paying pricey tuition fees to the University of California, Santa Barbara may be surprised by this unlikely academic speaker.
Porn star Angela White has given a guest lecture to students at the prestigious college as part of a “groundbreaking” film studies course.
The 37-year-old X-rated actress — who has been dubbed “the Meryl Streep of porn” due to her lengthy and illustrious career — took to Twitter to detail her campus visit last week, revealing that she was introduced as an “adult entertainer, entrepreneur, academic, politician and creative.”
“Thank you Professor Constance Penley for having me as a guest speaker at your groundbreaking course at UCSB,” White wrote beneath a photo that showed her posing next to the academic.
“This is my third time as a guest speaker at this Film Studies class that approaches pornography as worthy of serious inquiry as a genre and as popular culture,” the busty brunette continued. “Thank you to the incredible students who asked well-informed, thought-provoking questions about my career as a performer/director, my academic research, and my time in politics.”
White previously ran for a government seat in her home country of Australia and holds a first-class honors degree in gender studies from the University of Melbourne.
She added, “While it has been a number of years since my research dissertation was published in “The Routledge Companion to Media, Sex, and Sexuality,” academic pursuit remains an interest of mine and something I wish to return to in the future.”
White — who has filmed more than 900 hardcore scenes — covered up for her classroom visit, clad in a conservative black turtleneck.
Fans were thrilled by the porn star’s campus cameo, with one writing, “Thank you for championing pornographic content in academic spaces Angela.”
“Truly no end to your talents,” another gushed.
“I would’ve lost my mind if I saw you walking through campus!” a third cheered.
Earlier this year it was revealed that White almost died after filming a brutal hourlong sex scene with a well-endowed co-star.
The beauty was hospitalized with a burst appendix following the frisky shoot, which was said to have taken place in 2013.
The shocking claim was made by Keiran Lee, the X-rated entertainer who was working with White at the time.
“I put her into hospital and this was actually not on purpose,” Lee stated on a podcast in February.
White later clarified the claim, saying she did indeed suffer appendicitis after the shoot, but said it wasn’t because of Lee’s large penis.
