Celebrities dish on Valentine’s Day plans at Christian Siriano’s Dune-inspired show

Ashlee Simpson is not about to fall into the Valentine’s Day terrible gift trap.

That means no foot care products, boxer shorts or talking teddy bears for Evan Ross, her hubby of nine years.

“I feel like my husband likes caviar, so I’m like, ‘Here’s your caviar,’ and then I’ll get him something else,” the singer, songwriter and actor told Alexa. “He’s easy.”

Simpson was perched front row at Christian Siriano’s high-wattage fashion show at the Plaza Hotel on Thursday, alongside Alicia Silverstone, Sophia Bush, Busy Philipps, Shoshana Bean and J. Smith-Cameron. The collection was inspired by the 1965 “Dune” science fiction novel by Frank Herbert, and featured plenty of glamorous draped gowns, sexy corseted dresses and shimmering lamé looks – perfect for a V-day date.

Broadway legend Bean won’t be needing finery, as so far she has no plans for the holiday.

“Yellow Jackets” star Melanie Lynskey (left) and “One Tree Hill” icon Sophia Bush (right) were among the stylish Siriano set.
J. Smith-Cameron (left) of “Succession” fame (left) wore a gorgeous black-and-gold gown, while singer and Broadway star Shoshana Bean (right) rocked a pop of fuschia.

“I’m not doing s–t this year,” said the Tony-winning actor and singer, who will be reprising her role in “Hell’s Kitchen” when it transfers to the Shubert Theatre in April. “It’s a day off. It’s a day when no one will bother me because everyone will be busy.”

When Bean does celebrate, she crafts a memorable experience for her boo, and loved it when a boyfriend did the same for her. “We were working, so we couldn’t take a vacation or go somewhere to the beach,” she explained. “He created a beach at home. There was sand and everything – in the bedroom.”

“Drama Queens” podcast host Sophia Bush broke out her art supplies for Galentine’s Day. “I’ve got the best group of girlfriends in the world,” said the chic actor, who rocked a bedazzled black Siriano minidress. “A bunch of us have organized a postcard campaign for our friends this year. Spoiler alert: everyone’s getting little hand painted [Valentines] postcards in the mail next week.”

Bright silks and desert patterns were featured in Siriano’s collection, which was inspired by Frank Herbert’s 1965 science fiction novel “Dune.”
Also on theme were looks more neutral tones, evoking the futuristic world of Herbert’s novel.

“Yellowjackets” star Melanie Lynskey said that sometimes she and her husband, actor Jason Ritter, decide to make the festivities gift-free. “I’m hoping that this year that happens,” she said.

Luckily, Ritter is no slouch in the romance department. “He re-proposed to me on my birthday last year,” shared the Kiwi actor, resplendent in an asymmetrical black dress. “He bought me this beautiful ring and it has a little heart underneath, and he went shopping with our daughter. His first proposal was not the greatest.”

“I got very lucky,” she added. “He’s a good one.”

Smith-Cameron, who plays Logan Roy’s right-hand woman Gerri on “Succession,” also picked the right guy, director and playwright Kenneth Lonergan. “I feel like I’m happily married,” said the Emmy nominee, decked out in a strapless Siriano black-and-gold confection. “I feel like one of the people who can really look forward to that holiday, whereas some people are like, ‘Oh, it’s such a burden,’ if they’re dating someone or not dating someone,” she said.

“I just kind of lucked out so, yeah, I like to go to dinner at Valentine’s with Kenny. I don’t want to brag.”
