Pete Davidson checks into wellness facility for mental health treatment: report
Pete Davidson is seeking help to deal with his mental health struggles, according to a new report.
The comedian, 30, reportedly checked himself into a wellness facility, a source told People on Wednesday.
Davidson made the decision in an effort to focus on his health, which has “always been a priority” for him, the insider claimed.
The “Bodies Bodies Bodies” star has also been focusing on his sobriety while staying busy with work, the source told the outlet. His friends and family are said to be proud that he is taking care of himself.
The Post has reached out to Davidson’s rep for comment.
Davidson has often shared about his experience with sobriety, borderline personality disorder and severe post-traumatic stress disorder.
Davidson has sought treatment for mental health issues before, most recently in June 2023 when he entered a facility to help with issues related to his PTSD and borderline personality diagnoses.
“Anyone who knows Pete knows that he will always step up and get help when he knows he needs it,” a source told Page Six at the time.
“He has a lot of people in his corner who love him and support him, and are proud of him.”
Never one to shy away from discussing his personal struggles, the funnyman opened up about the experience while performing at a stand-up comedy review alongside John Mulaney and Jon Stewart in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on September 10, 2023.
“I am fresh out of rehab, everyone,” Davidson shared before joking, “I got that post-rehab glow.”
“Seventh time’s the charm!” he quipped.
Davidson went on to say that he had been taking ketamine, a dissociative drug that is used both as an anesthetic and as a treatment for depression and pain management.
The drug stirred a lot of conversation and debate earlier this year after it was discovered that Matthew Perry took the drug shortly before he died.
“It was magical,” he said. “One time, I got the Wiggles to mesh with Schindler’s List.”
Recently, Davidson shared that there was one drug he was still struggling to quit: marijuana.
“I did coke and ketamine and f – – king all the pills and all that s – – t,” he told a crowd at another Atlantic City stand-up show on July 20, 2024. “All I have is weed left, so it’s almost over, but I’m holding on for a little bit longer.”
In addition to his 2023 stint, Davidson went to rehab in 2017 and 2019.
In 2018, the actor revealed his borderline personality diagnosis after struggling for years with anxiety and depression. That same year, the NYPD performed a wellness check on him after he posted about suicide online.
In September 2017, Davidson shared that he previously believed a mental breakdown he suffered in December 2016 was caused by excessive marijuana use.
“This whole year has been a f – – ing nightmare,” he told Marc Maron on his WTF with Marc Maron podcast. “This has been the worst year of my life, getting diagnosed with this and trying to figure out how to learn with this and live with this.”
Davidson has “been in and out of mental health facilities” since he was 9 years old, per an interview he did with Variety in 2018. At the time, however, he felt that new medication had helped him find stability.
“The last few years have been real rough with me,” he explained. “I took all these mental health classes and really spent a lot of time getting me good.”
