Body of Georgia mom Minelys Zoe Rodriguez-Ramirez found a week after she vanished from Walmart
The body of a missing Georgia mother was found near the Walmart where she was last seen a week ago, as police arrested a man in connection to her alleged abduction and murder.
Angel DeJesus Rivera-Sanches, 24, was arrested in Atlanta on Monday and charged with kidnapping related to the disappearance of Minelys Zoe Rodriguez-Ramirez.
Rodriguez-Ramirez, a 25-year-old who documented her fitness journey on TikTok, was last seen at the Cornelia, Ga. store on Oct. 22, 2024.
She sent a text to her fiancé, Julio Tovor, around 9:30 p.m., according to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.
“I am waiting for the brother to pick him up,” the message read.
“It didn’t make sense. She doesn’t talk like that,” Tovor told Now Habersham News.
Tovor said his fiancée had gone to Walmart to exchange a photo with an acquaintance. When he awoke the next morning without any word from her, Tovor said, he felt something was wrong and called Rodriguez-Ramirez’s mother. They reported her missing on Oct. 23.
Rodriguez-Ramirez, the mother of a 9-year-old daughter, moved to Georgia from Puerto Rico six years ago after being offered a job at nearby manufacturer Mt. Vernon Hills Inc.
The loving mother was separated from her daughter, who moved back to Puerto Rico to live with her dad.
“Minelys talked about her daughter a lot. She treasured her daughter,” Tovor said.
It’s unclear who Rodriguez-Ramirez was meeting at the Walmart, or if there is any connection between her and Rivera-Sanches.
Her car was located five miles down the road on Hazel Creek Road, with witnesses nearby saying they saw a dark SUV and a gold minivan near Rodriguez-Ramirez that night, Now Habersham News reported.
Remains believed to be Rodriguez-Ramirez’s were recovered on Furniture Drive, a road that runs parallel with the Walmart parking lot, Habersham County Coroner Kelsey McEntire stold 11 Alive.
Rivera-Sanches was booked into the Habersham County Detention Center but will be charged with murder in connection with Ramirez’s death.
An autopsy is being conducted on the remains and no cause of death or motive had been revealed in Rodriguez-Ramirez’s suspected murder.
