A Brazilian?professional?makeup artist re-created the “Mona Lisa” with potatoes and lettuce to make an edible masterpiece.
Huylson Tormen posted an Instagram video last month showing his creative process as he turned his grocery list into a re-imagining of the famous painting by Leonardo da Vinci.
He began by purchasing Monalisa potatoes, a golden yellow variety of the starch from South America.
After bringing his produce home, he drew the famous face with a pen to guide his skilled hand. Then, he mixed a few paints to yield the perfect yellow-tinted skin color.
He went on to create the cheekbones, nose and jawline.
Tormen then used a small brush to paint her legendary brown eyes and smirk before going back to shade and highlight the face.
The first potato was finished with some dark hair. The artist added two more potatoes to fashion her body — and the last root vegetable was cut for her perfectly posed hands.
To complete his amazing artwork, Tormen draped some floppy pieces of green and purple lettuce for her hair and clothes.
The finished product bore a shocking resemblance to the Renaissance masterpiece.
The Post reached out to Tormen for comment.
The tasty re-creation has Tormen joining the ranks of other clever creatives, including food carving designer Daniele Barresi.
He has drawn more than 82,000 followers on Instagram with his work transforming tasty fruits and veggies into exquisite sculptures with his bare hands.
His organically ornate pieces have ap-peel-ed to foodies and art lovers the world over.
The Italian-trained chef, who lives in Sydney, Australia, can carve detailed sculptures of animals and embroidery from fruit in just hours. He receives commissions from brands for custom pieces, preferring to craft birds, flowers and patterns.
